Meet the Director
Kathleen Reilly has been working with highly and profoundly gifted students for almost 20 years, for the last several years as a college consultant. She works almost exclusively with students that are exceptionally motivated and capable and who have an insatiable desire and ability to learn. Many of the students that Kate works with have faced the additional challenges of twice exceptionalism and highly non-traditional educational backgrounds; she helps these students focus on their unique achievements and experiences throughout the college preparation and application process.

Kate is a University of Michigan graduate and pursued a doctoral degree in linguistics before becoming a bilingual speech-language pathologist. She conducted bilingual language diagnostics and therapy with Spanish-speaking children in the public schools in both Colorado and Pennsylvania. She homeschooled her own twins in Spanish from birth through their enrollment at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and along the way she taught courses to groups of other homeschooled students in languages, linguistics, and several AP subjects.
She has a BA in German and Italian Languages and Cultures, an MA in Linguistics, and an MA in Speech-Language Pathology. In addition, Kate holds a certificate in Independent Educational Consulting from UC Irvine, and she is a member of the leading professional organization in her field, the Independent Educational Consultants Association.

When she is not working with students and families, she volunteers in Maryland as a Master Gardener, Master Naturalist, and Watershed Steward.
